Choice on a Windy Day....

I.
Hate.
Wind.
It makes me feel vexed like a cat who’s being petted from tail to head.
It’s the only weather I feel strongly against.

Why, you ask, then did I pick the windiest day to go outside for a jog instead of inside to a warm cozy, yoga studio for my choice of exercise today?
Exactly because I have the choice.
Stay with me till the end of this, friends.

I have the choice
To sleep in
To snuggle under warm, clean covers
To sip coffee
To snack on some fresh fruit
From yesterday’s farmers market.

I have the choice
To go outside
To layer in weather-appropriate clothes
To zip up a windbreaker
To put on a hat
And look down at my privileges.

I have the choice
To come inside
Too wind-blown
Too done with Mother Nature
To have hot tea waiting
And find food aplenty.

I have choices. Too many usually. What a privilege.
While there are many who don’t have any of these choices.

Friends, as the weather starts to turn here in Colorado and much of the northern hemisphere, please turn to your local shelters, mental health centers, food banks, and other social support services to donate time (volunteer or speak out for) or money or items.

From this month on, I make a choice to budget a donation each month to a local social service.
I make a choice to be more vocal about supporting my fellow humxn being in this painful world.
I have the privilege to have a choice; therefore, I have the responsibility.

Today I’m donating to Fort Collins Rescue Mission
Read more about them at https://www.fortcollinsrescuemission.org
I selected this one because it is one I now live near and I share public spaces with people who need their services. Shelter, food, and safety are basic and fundamental humxn rights. ALL people deserve these.

Thanks for reading until the end.

What choices do/will you make today to support others?
